Another hot, hilly, windy day east of the Cascades. After replacing my rear wheel, issues seem to have developed with my derailleur and brakes. This has made the journey down the bumpy, gravelly Wenas road particularly slow and exhausting. Around 1030 at night I make it to this waystation. It is dark and I can't find any sign of milkweed, so I do a small planting and field recording then push on to Ellensberg. The sounds of this road in the evening are delightful: frogs, crickets, owls, loons, meadowlark, and many other birds. Only the crickets made it onto this recording though!
