Stopped at Warm Springs in search of Alejandro's milkweed plantings from last fall. No sign of milkweed, so planted a few seeds of the "A. Speciosa" (Showy Milkweed) variety. This area along the Deschutes river seems to be a popular place for birds, butterflies, and humans… but no monarch stopped by today. It is quite arid here once you get even 10' from the river, and the site of the planting has a lot of invasive grass...so the milkweed has its work cut out for it! Onward and upward, literally... today is a big climbing day as I head up the east side of Mt Hood.
