Biked down Hwy 35 along Flathead Lake. No sign of showy milkweed, either on the shore (difficult to find public access) or on the roadside. It seems that a mix of invasive grasses, shade, and development have prevented any milkweed from taking hold. Hopefully can explore more of Flathead lake soon… there are several historical sightings of milkweed along the southeastern part of the lake, and there have been butterfly as well as instar sightings at the National Bison Range about 30 miles south.
Couldn’t find any milkweed today, and still no luck getting seeds. Recorded some music for future milkweed plants that will hopefully colonize this shore.
