In 1941, Woody Guthrie spent a month out in these parts writing songs about the dams and rivers in the Pacific Northwest. Perhaps his most well-known tune from that collection is about the Columbia River (the one I'm singing in this recording). The chorus goes: "your power is turning our darkness to dawn." Still brainstorming a 2020 lyric update. How about this: "your waters are turning our milkweed seeds on." I like it!
